Just a day after rolling out hefty new tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China, President Donald Trump is warning Americans to brace for some economic discomfort. While he’s calling it the "Golden Age of America," he’s also hinting that there might be a price to pay along the way.

In a bold Truth Social post, Trump wrote, “WILL THERE BE SOME PAIN? YES, MAYBE (AND MAYBE NOT!)” He followed up by saying the sacrifices will be worth it to “make America great again.” The tariffs, which include a 25% charge on goods from Mexico and Canada and a 10% fee on Chinese imports, are set to kick in Tuesday at 12:01 a.m. ET. Experts believe these measures could drive up costs for everyday consumers already dealing with high living expenses.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican leaders have already signaled plans to retaliate, though they’ve made it clear they’d rather avoid escalating tensions. Trudeau even admitted, “We don’t want to be here,” during a somber address.

While Trump insists the tariffs are about rebalancing trade and tackling immigration and drug issues, he hasn’t spelled out specific demands for lifting them. In the meantime, Americans may soon feel the pinch—especially when it comes to gas and heating costs, which could rise despite a lower 10% tariff on Canadian oil and gas.
