Former President Donald Trump has settled his legal feud with Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram. The agreement was signed at the White House this Wednesday, putting an end to the lawsuit Trump filed after his accounts were suspended following the January 6 Capitol attack.

According to sources, the deal includes a $25 million payout. A whopping $22 million is earmarked for Trump’s future presidential library, while the rest covers legal fees and other plaintiffs. This settlement comes after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg worked to mend ties with Trump following his 2024 election victory. Zuckerberg donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration and even attended the event, sitting alongside Cabinet members.

Meta has also made several changes aligning with Trump’s vision, including scrapping partnerships with third-party fact-checkers and adopting a “community notes” system similar to X (formerly Twitter). The company has also rolled back its diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, a move praised by Trump and other conservative critics.

Interestingly, Zuckerberg and Trump reportedly discussed the lawsuit during a meeting at Trump’s club in November. This marks a significant shift from last summer, when Trump threatened to send Zuckerberg to prison in his book, accusing Meta of undermining him.

Meta’s recent decisions, including appointing Trump ally Dana White to its board and elevating prominent Republican Joel Kaplan, show a clear effort to align with Trump’s policies. The company has also adjusted its content moderation rules, reducing reliance on automated systems—a change long demanded by conservative voices.

This settlement not only ends a high-profile legal battle but also highlights the evolving relationship between Trump and one of the world’s biggest tech companies.
