Threads, Meta’s microblogging platform, is picking up speed and leaving some competitors in the dust. During Meta’s recent earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared that Threads now has 320 million monthly active users—a jump from 300 million in December. That’s a solid climb from 275 million users in November, showing the app is holding its own in the crowded social media space.
While Threads keeps growing, other platforms like Bluesky are hitting a slowdown. Bluesky saw less than a 10% increase in users last month, a stark contrast to its 189% surge in November. As of now, Bluesky has around 26.4 million users, a far cry from Threads’ impressive numbers.
Zuckerberg also mentioned that Threads is adding over 1 million new signups every day. To keep the momentum going, Meta has been rolling out fresh features, like post scheduling and view counts for individual posts. There’s even talk of new ad experiments in the U.S. and Japan to make the most of Threads’ growing popularity.
Meta’s CFO, Susan Li, highlighted updates to the app’s recommendation system, focusing on recent posts, top creators, and content from accounts users follow. Custom feeds are also getting a boost, letting users tailor their experience based on their interests.
With these updates and steady growth, Threads is proving to be a strong contender in the social media race. It’ll be interesting to see how it stacks up against rivals in the months ahead.
