The Kansas City Chiefs are on the brink of making NFL history this weekend, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at ticket prices. Surprisingly, the cost to attend Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans has dropped significantly, with the cheapest seats now going for under $4,000 on reseller sites like TickPick. That’s a 30% dip in just the past week and more than half the price of last year’s record-breaking Super Bowl tickets.
What’s behind the slump? For starters, New Orleans doesn’t quite have the same allure as Las Vegas, where last year’s game was held. The Caesars Superdome, which can seat around 74,000 fans, is larger than Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium, adding to the supply and driving down costs. Plus, the city is still recovering from a recent tragedy—a terrorist attack that shook the community last month.
Then there’s the “Chiefs fatigue” factor. This is the team’s third straight Super Bowl appearance, and it seems some fans are less excited about watching them play again. TickPick’s CEO noted that if teams like the Detroit Lions or Buffalo Bills had made it to the big game, demand would likely be much higher.
Despite the lower prices, the game itself promises to be a showdown worth watching. The Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles, hoping to become the first team ever to clinch three consecutive Super Bowl titles. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm ET on Sunday, and for the first time, the game will be streamed for free on Tubi.
So, if you’ve been dreaming of attending a Super Bowl, this might just be your year to snag a deal.
