Sterling K. Brown and Dan Fogelman are back together, but this time, they’re trading tissues for thrills. The duo, known for their heart-wrenching work on “This Is Us,” have teamed up again for the new Hulu series “Paradise.” And while fans might miss the emotional rollercoaster of their previous collaboration, this sci-fi thriller promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Brown stars as Xavier, a Secret Service agent tasked with protecting the U.S. president, played by James Marsden. But things take a wild turn when the president is found dead early in the series, and the seemingly perfect world around them starts to feel... off.
“It’s a homecoming on so many levels,” Brown shared, referring to the reunion with Fogelman and many crew members from “This Is Us.” But don’t expect Xavier to be anything like Randall Pearson, Brown’s character from the NBC hit. “Xavier is physically intimidating, stoic — he’s not exactly wearing his heart on his sleeve,” Brown added.
Fogelman, the series creator, acknowledged that some fans might be surprised by the shift in tone. “I’m sure there’ll be about 12 percent of people who are like, ‘This ain’t Randall, what’s going on?’” Brown joked. “But hopefully, after the pilot, they’ll be hooked.”
“Paradise” blends a gripping plot with a mysterious setting — think a white house that doesn’t quite feel like the White House — and promises to be a fresh take from this dynamic duo. With Brown’s powerhouse performance and Fogelman’s knack for storytelling, this series is set to be a must-watch.
So, if you’re ready for something new from this creative pair, “Paradise” is streaming now on Hulu. Buckle up — it’s going to be a wild ride!
