If you’re an Android user, there’s a new assistant in town that might just make your life a little easier. Perplexity, the AI-driven search engine, just rolled out its Perplexity Assistant—and it’s packed with features to help you tackle everyday tasks.

This new helper isn’t just about answering questions. It can handle multi-app actions, like ordering a ride or finding your favorite song. Powered by Perplexity’s search engine, it also taps into the web to do things like pull event details and add them to your calendar automatically.

One standout feature? The assistant can use your phone’s camera to answer questions about what’s in front of you or on your screen. Plus, it keeps track of context between actions. For example, it can research nearby restaurants and book a table for you in one go.

Right now, Perplexity Assistant is free for Android users and supports 15 languages, including English, Spanish, French, and Japanese. The company’s CEO shared on X (formerly Twitter) that while some features might not work perfectly yet, they’re working to iron out the kinks.

This launch comes hot on the heels of Perplexity’s other recent moves, like releasing Sonar, an API for developers, and acquiring Read.cv, a social platform for professionals. Since its founding in 2022, Perplexity has raised over $500 million and is now valued at $9 billion.

However, the company isn’t without its challenges. It’s facing lawsuits from publishers like News Corp, who accuse it of copying their content. Perplexity insists it respects publishers and even offers a revenue-sharing program for them.
