The idea behind Hero is straightforward: why clutter your phone with separate apps when one can do it all? With a single screen, Hero displays your schedule, a to-do list, a grocery list, notes, and even the weather. Plus, it features a daily brief—styled like Instagram Stories—that recaps your schedule, news, and even throws in a motivational quote.

What makes Hero stand out is its social coordination features. You can add friends, family, or teammates to share schedules, tasks, and notes. If they’re on the app, they can comment on shared events or to-dos. For those who aren’t, you can still send them a message-friendly version.

The built-in AI assistant is the cherry on top. It can create events, reminders, and notes, or even help build lists. For instance, ask it for “Movies like Challengers,” and it’ll generate a list for you. The assistant uses Perplexity’s AI to answer queries and can save web searches as notes.

Hero’s co-founders believe the future of apps lies in simplicity. “There will be two categories of apps: blank slate chat apps like ChatGPT and apps that show your entire day in one place. We want to be that app,” Kowalk explained. He also highlighted how Hero’s social coordination features appeal to couples and recent graduates looking for a fresh productivity approach.

Hero is free to use, and the company plans to keep it that way. For now, monetization comes from partnerships like Instacart, where users can order groceries directly from the app. Future updates include improving voice interactions, adding a habits tracker, and allowing users to create events or notes from screenshots.
