The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued its most serious warning for certain chocolate products made by Cal Yee Farm. The agency says the snacks, which were first recalled in December, could pose life-threatening risks due to mislabeled ingredients.

Cal Yee Farm, based in Suisun Valley, California, started pulling the items off shelves after an FDA inspection found they contained unlisted allergens like almonds, milk, sesame, soy, wheat, and a synthetic dye. While no illnesses have been reported, the FDA is urging people with allergies or sensitivities to stay away from the affected products.

The recall now includes items like dark chocolate almonds, apricots, raisins, and walnuts, as well as New Orleans hot mix, Cajun sesame hot sticks, tropical trail mix, and yogurt-coated almonds. These products were sold under the Cal Yee’s or Cal Yee Farm brands at two retail stores in California and through online orders to several states.

The company is advising customers to throw the mislabeled products away or return them for a full refund. They also confirmed the labeling issue has been fixed. According to the FDA, this is a Class I recall, meaning there’s a significant risk of serious health problems or even death from consuming the products.

This isn’t the first time the FDA has cracked down on mislabeling. The 2004 Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act identified milk and seven other ingredients as major allergens that must be clearly listed on packaging.

If you’ve bought any of these products, it’s better to play it safe and check the labels—or just toss them out. Your health isn’t worth the risk.
