Teaming up with Incention, a new platform powered by Story’s blockchain technology, Goyer is launching a sci-fi franchise called Emergence. This innovative approach lets fans play a role in shaping the story while protecting intellectual property through tokenization.

Incention, backed by a16z crypto, was designed to solve some of the issues creatives face in the entertainment industry. Founders Chase Rosenburg and Spencer Marell believe traditional IP development often overlooks emerging talent. With blockchain, Incention ensures that creators are recognized and compensated for their contributions—whether it’s a character sketch, a plot idea, or even a soundtrack.

Starting today, anyone can join the Emergence universe. Writers, artists, and musicians are encouraged to share their ideas, which can be voted on by the community. If an idea gets enough support, it becomes part of the official story—and contributors gain ownership stakes in the narrative.

Goyer revealed that Emergence revolves around a mysterious “White Fountain” that spews powerful relics across the galaxy. Think advanced humans, strange lifeforms, and untold secrets. While Goyer and a team of writers have laid the groundwork—including a detailed “World Bible” outlining themes and characters—there’s plenty of room for fans to expand the story.

To keep everything on track, Incention has introduced an AI assistant named Atlas. It helps collaborators generate ideas, answer questions, and even create visuals. In the future, fans might even vote on key story decisions, like the fate of a character or the introduction of new elements.

While it’s still unclear how fans can monetize their contributions, Goyer is optimistic about Incention’s potential. “It’s going to lower the barrier and allow people who might not have had a way to break in,” he said.
