High in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, at an elevation of 10,600 feet, a couple’s cherished vacation home has undergone an incredible transformation. Linda and Mitch Bollag, who’ve had a longtime passion for the state, decided their cozy mountain retreat needed a serious upgrade when it started feeling too small for their family and friends.
The Bollags, now in their late 60s and early 70s, have deep roots in Colorado. They first met in Boulder after Mitch moved there for college, and Linda fell in love with the area during a cross-country road trip. Though they’ve made their primary home in North Carolina, the couple has always returned to the mountains for skiing, hiking, and soaking in the breathtaking scenery.
Their son, Gabriel Yuri, an architect and founder of New Operations Workshop, stepped in to help with the renovation. Together, they expanded the home to create more space while keeping the design true to its mountainous surroundings. The result? A customized retreat that’s both functional and stunning, blending seamlessly with the rugged landscape.
